Stephanotis is an evergreen, tropical vine with a scattered distribution in several tropical and subtropical regions.
They are are grown for their strongly perfumed, waxy, tubular, usually white flowers. Leaves are opposite, ovate to elliptic, and leathery. Stephanotis is a beautiful but somewhat difficult plant to grow, as it doesn't enjoy sudden changes in temperature, prefers constant cool conditions in winter. The stems of Stephanotis can reach 10 ft or more, but it is usually sold twined around bamboo or loops. The heavily scented waxy flowers appear in summer.
The plants can be cultivated as a tropical or hothouse ornamental, and the flowers are a popular in wedding bouquets.
